Our Story
Roberts RV World’s journey began back in 1968, when founder Robert Wangman set up a small camper yard on Melbourne’s northern fringe and became one of the very first Victorian agents for what was then Winnebago Australia (today known as Avida RV) – giving Aussie road-trippers access to locally engineered motorhomes tough enough for corrugated outback tracks.
From those humble beginnings the family business grew steadily, fuelled by word-of-mouth and a passion for helping customers experience the freedom of the open road. By the late 1980s the yard had evolved into a full-service dealership, and in the 1990s the team relocated to Campbellfield, gradually transforming the premises into what is now the Southern Hemisphere’s largest fully-carpeted, one-acre indoor showroom.
Today the torch has passed to the second generation: Robert’s son Richard Wangman heads the dealership alongside a close-knit crew of sales consultants, technicians and parts specialists who grew up around motorhomes and still live and breathe the lifestyle.
True to the pioneering spirit that shaped the business, Roberts RV World keeps reinvesting in customer experience. A major 2023 renovation merged the showroom with a state-of-the-art service workshop, expansive parts & accessories store and barista lounge, creating a seamless “everything-under-one-roof” hub where you can sip a coffee while your vehicle is being serviced or fitted out for its next adventure.
Five-plus decades on, much has changed — but the essentials remain untouched: family ownership, honest advice, factory-trained technicians, and a genuine love of the RV lifestyle that turns every hand-over into the start of a long-term friendship on (and off) the highway.

Where it all began
Robert Wangman opens a small camper yard on Sydney Rd, determined to give Victorians a taste of life on the open road.
We outgrew the yard
Relocated to a larger Campbellfield site, adding an indoor showroom and on-site workshop so customers could explore vehicles in comfort, rain or shine.
First acre under one roof
Expanded to Victoria’s first whole-acre undercover display, complete with coffee lounge and service reception.
Showroom 2.0
A multi-million-dollar refurbishment merged sales, parts megastore and a 20,000 sq ft service centre into one seamless hub for today’s RV traveler.
